William Augustus Mendel, Jr., 61, passed away Friday, November 8, 2013. Born in Arlington, VA, he has been a lifelong resident of Hampton, where he was a Heavy Equipment Operator. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 147 retiring in 2008.

William is survived by his daughters, Heather Clark and Stephanie Wiley; sisters, Joyce Clark and Theresa Wolfe; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4-5:00 PM Monday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in downtown Hampton. Immediately following at 5:00, William's life will be remembered and celebrated.
