William H Mayes passed October 2, 2018 at the age of 90 at his home after a lengthy illness. Bill retired from NASA in the mid 1980's after a long career as an Aeronautical Engineer. He was predecased by his devoted wife of 59 years Nancy Elam Mayes. He is survived by a son, Randall Mayes, and two daughters Lisa Edmonds, and Amy Mayes. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family expresses gratitude for the care and support of Brightstar Home Health Care and Sentara Hospice. Memorial service will be private per Bill's request.
