William G. Charnock, 72, born July 1948, unexpectedly passed Friday, April 23, 2021.  Born and raised in Hampton, Virginia; he was the youngest child of Harold "Hike" Charnock and Mildred Parks Charnock, both of Tangier Island, Virginia.

William is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Melvin and Harry Charnock, his sister Virginia Willingham, and his sister Marion Martin.  He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Anita Cutler Charnock, his daughter Laura Charnock, and his only grandson Riley Pearce.  He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

William was Assistant Gunner in the 173 ^rd Airborne, 3 ^rd Platoon Vietnam, and a proud Vietnam veteran and a lifetime member of the VFW.  He was also a life-long waterman.  William was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He was fiercely loyal to his family and friends, and he will be missed immensely.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021, at the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton, Virginia; with visitation an hour before. The service will be lived streamed on the funeral home Facebook page or you can click here.
