William Oliver (Bill) Bohon, of Hampton, VA, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 3, 2014. Born on April 25, 1931, in Princeton, West Virginia, he was the son of the late William Bohon and Ruth Pettrey Bohon. Having spent most of his youth in his beloved Keen Mountain, VA, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and graduated from Concord College and Virginia State University. He taught school for 12 years in McDowell County, WVA prior to moving to Hampton. He was a school administrator for Hampton City Schools for 25 years until his retirement in 1993. He was a former member of the Royal Stag Hunt Club in New Kent County. Bill loved his family, hunting, fishing and was a wonderful storyteller. Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 63 years, Eva Simpson Bohon; one daughter, Sherry Holt and husband Cecil; two grandchildren, Jamee and husband, Paul Martocci, and Amanda Holt; two great-grandchildren, Mason Marino and Joseph Martocci. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Geraldine Owens and a brother, Charles Bohon. He loved being "Pop" to the grandchildren and other family members. "Pop", we will think of your smile and positive attitude everyday. We will feel your presence and love you forever. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Monday, October 6 by Rev. Jennifer Mercer in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home Chapel. The interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park . The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
