Obituary

Wayne L. Tysinger, 73, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Riverside Regional Medical Center from SARS-COV2 (COVID Pneumonia). Born in Newport News, he grew up in the Hidenwood area and graduated from Ferguson High School in 1966. Wayne furthered his education at Southwood Junior College and The University of Richmond. He served in the Army National Guard from 1969-1975.

Wayne worked with his father at CAT's Auto Supply until 1996 and worked for Pomoco Auto Group and Hibbard's Iron Works. In 2001 he went to work with the Hampton Sheriff's Department as a Deputy Sheriff retiring in 2013. He was awarded Deputy of the Year in 2009 for esteemed duty in the Hampton General District Courts.

Serving his community for nearly 30 years, he was a member and officer of the Hampton Host Lions Club and was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Humanitarian Award. He was a member of the FOP Lodge #26 and also served as an Executive Committee member for the Shelton on the Bay Retirement Home.

A man of utmost integrity, he loved life and everyone he encountered. He was fun loving and was an avid lover of the beach and Hampton Roads surrounding waters. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 46 years, Linda; his son, Lee and his wife, Maryann; granddaughters, Kira, Ashley, Kailee, and Skylee; and many loving cousins and dear friends. He also has a great-grandson, Logan Lee who is to be born in April 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents C.A. and Lorella Tysinger.

Due to Covid restrictions, a private memorial service with FOP rites will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 29, 2021 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home and may be watched live by clicking here.
