Walter Allen Wilkerson, 81, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017.  Born in Cavel, NC, he has been a resident of Newport News since 1959 where he retired, as a Supervisor in the Machinist Department, from Newport News Shipbuilding in in 1992.  He also worked as a Starter for Kings Mill Golf Club from 1992-2014 and was a member of Warwick Memorial United Methodist Church.

Walter was survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty I. Wilkerson; daughter, Kimberly Swanson and her husband Tim; son, Todd Wilkerson, sister, JoAnn Wyatt and grandson, Tanner Swanson.

The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 PM Friday December 22, 2017, at Warwick Memorial United Methodist Church.  Immediately following at 2:00 PM, a service to celebrate Walter's life will be held in the church by Rev. Bert Cloud.

The family wishes expressions of sympathy to take the form of contributions to the Warwick Memorial U.M.C. Celebration Center Fund, 38 Hoopes Rd., Newport News, VA  23602.
