IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Walter Nelms
Sadler
April 11, 1938 – July 15, 2024
Walter Nelms Sadler, 86, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2024, at York Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Yorktown, Virginia. Born at home in Matthews (Moon), Virginia to Sue and Walter Sadler on April 11, 1938, he graduated from Warwick High School in 1958. Walter married the love of his life, Macon Elizabeth Fraser (Mickey) on August 20, 1960. A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather; he served in the United States Air Force, worked at Newport News Shipbuilding and Dow Badische. His final job was working on equipment at Busch Gardens, retiring at 79 to care for his wife Mickey through her final days.
Walter loved the Lord and put God first in all things. Serving God and loving his family were his greatest passions. He was a lifetime Member of Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, sang tenor in the church choir and served on too many committees to mention. His love for music did not stop at church as he sang in a Gospel Quartet, the Deacons Four, for many years. Walter loved reading his Bible and would share his faith with anyone who would listen – even requesting that the gospel be clearly presented at his funeral. Kind and generous beyond measure, he loved fully, without judgement, with all he had.
Preceded in death by his wife Mickey; his parents Sue and Walter Sadler; his sisters Marianne Nance and Gertrude Bradley; and granddaughter Candice Couture; Walter is survived by his children, Tammy Sadler Eshelman, Helen Sue Quinn and her husband Kenny, Elizabeth (Beth) Good and her husband Mike, Mindy Moore and her husband Zane and Walter Coleman (Cole) Sadler; his sisters Frances Johnson and Belle Jenkins; his grandchildren, Katie Quinn Mulvaney and her husband Thomas, Michelle Couture, Kenny Quinn, III and his wife Stacy, Kaylee Good, Jacob Good, Julia Good and Zane Moore, Jr.; and great-grandchildren Peyton Mulvaney, Warren Mulvaney, Carmen Forestiere, Levi Mulvaney and Jessie Mulvaney.
Pallbearers are Cole Sadler, Kenny Quinn, III, Jacob Good, Thomas Mulvaney, Eric Trimble & Rich Cartwright.
