Vivian Ferguson Sutton, 87, died Monday, June 16, 2014. A native of Decatur, Alabama, she had been a Hampton resident for the last 68 years where she was a member of Memorial Baptist Church. She worked for many years as a Telephone Operator, retiring in 1989. An avid seamstress, she made a lot of her own clothes; she loved to knit and had a passion for eating out. Preceded in death by her husband, Charles Sutton, two brothers and a sister; survivors include her daughters, Georgia K. Lebron and Melissa Jean Childress; a brother, Gene Phillips; grandchildren, James Childress, Julie Childress, and Jeffrey Tudder; and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 20, 2014 in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel by Rev. Lawrence Biermann. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
