Obituary

Virginia Christian Kirby, 87, died on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015. She was a native of Charlottesville, VA and had lived in Hampton for 50 years. For the last 14 years she resided in Williamsburg. Mrs. Kirby will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was very active in the community and church. She will be deeply missed. She supported the March of Dimes, was a member of P.E.O. Chapter A, the Junior and Senior Woman's Club of Hampton, and a charter member of the Riverdale Garden Club. Mrs. Kirby was a Pink Lady for Dixie/Hampton General Hospital and assisted in the formation of their gift shop. Mrs. Kirby was active in the Alter Guilds of Emmanuel Episcopal Church and St. John's Episcopal Church. In recent years she was a member of Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg. Mrs. Kirby was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Kirby, her mother Amelie Money Kelly father, Heth Christian; a brother Mortimer Christian and son-in-law Jack Lucas. She is survived by her daughter, Linda K. Lucas, her son D. Mark Kirby (wife Zoe), Her granddaughter Kirby L. Manson (husband Michael),Grandsons, David M. Kirby (wife Briana), C.R. Kirby, and Brooks Kirby. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, at St. John's Episcopal Church, Hampton, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. A reception in the Church Parish Hall will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, stilleasierthanchemo.com or the ASPCA or local Humane Society. Arrangements are by R.
