Obituary

On Monday July 23, 2018 the world lost one of its best- the bright, shining soul Virginia Elizabeth "Ginny" Hagin. Ginny was born on August 17, 1969 in Glendale, WV to James Parker and Virginia Susan McIlvain and grew up in Moundsville, WV. After graduating from high school she attended Fairmont State University. Her life experiences led her to South Carolina where she first met the love of her life, Randolph "Randy" Hagin. What initially began as a mutual friendship based on a love of music later blossomed into romance. Randy's career as a musician for the US Army brought him to Ft Monroe, VA. Ginny joined him in Hampton and they were married December 30, 2000 at the Isle of Wight Wedding Chapel, Isle of Wight County, VA.

Randy's military career took them to several places-including Korea, Kansas and Virginia. No matter where they were stationed Ginny always found a way to make a welcoming home, make new friends and especially make a positive difference in her community. On their return to Virginia, the Hagins' lives took on a new role when they became parents-their first son James was born in 2004 followed by their second son Joseph, who was born in 2005.

Ginny was a devoted mother who lived for her boys. She supported whatever interests they had  110% and she made sure they had every resource needed to meet their goals whether it was sports, music, education, games or adventures. And they had family adventures that took them all over the US and the world!

When her boys got a little older Ginny fulfilled one of her dreams by becoming a teacher. Many students in Hampton and Williamsburg were fortunate to have Mrs. Hagin as their teacher and Minecraft Club sponsor. She loved teaching.

Ginny is survived by her beloved boys-Randy, James and Joseph; mother-in-law, Nancy Baker, her sister in law Maureen Varney, her brothers in law and their spouses Michael, Patrick & Deborah, John & Tammy, and; her brother and his wife James & Dennelle Parker; nieces and nephews, many cousins; countless friends; and her rescued fur babies.

At her very core Ginny was the epitome of kindness. She hated any form of social injustice and worked tirelessly to make changes in the hopes of making the world a better place for everyone. In that spirit her family would request that in lieu of flowers you do something kind for others as a way to honor her life. Two organizations that were dear to her are the Cat Corner, Fulton St, Hampton VA and RAICES (https://www.raicestexas.org/donate). A trust fund for her sons has been established at Langley Federal Credit Union (Fox Hill Rd location).  Ginny was passionate about teaching and making sure students had the necessary supplies to learn. In support of that legacy, please consider bringing school supplies and backpacks to her service that will later be distributed to students in need.  As a final request her family would also encourage everyone to be sure and exercise the most potent way to make changes by voting in every election-local, state and national.
