Obituary

Virginia "Ginny" Catherine Kilduff of Hampton, VA passed on 9 July 2022 with her two daughters by her side. Ginny was born on 21 July 1921 in the Duerr Township, Richland County, ND.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George J Duerr and Elizbeth Pahl Duerr of Lidgerwood, ND; her husband, Thomas F. Kilduff; her siblings, Helen Schwartz, Agatha Gaukler, Leonard Duerr, Edward Duerr, Frank Duerr, William Duerr and Patricia Duerr. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Kilduff Hunt (Wally) and Susan Kilduff-Rounion (Biff); her sister, Marian Cyberski; her grandchildren, Sarah Hunt Clair (Benjamin), Amy Hunt Lane (David) and Thomas Hunt; and her great-grandchildren, Patrick, Jack, Anna, Quin, Emily and Catie. She is also survived by over 5 generations (about 200) nieces and nephews.

Ginny grew up on a farm outside of Lidgerwood, ND. During World War II she became a nurse and was commissioned as an Ensign in the US Navy Nurse Corps. Her assignment during the war was at the US Naval Hospital, Pearl Harbor, HI. Eventually during the Korean conflict, Lt Duerr was stationed at the US Naval Hospital at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, CA. She met a young LT whose ship was at Mare Island for overhaul and soon, they were married. Lt Tom Kilduff was soon reassigned to the Pentagon in Arlington, VA and back then, the Navy did not have a join spouse program, so Ginny soon resigned her commission and transitioned from Navy LT to Navy Wife.  After an overseas tour, they returned to the US and their two daughters were born. After several stateside assignments and lots of deployments, they decided to retire from the Navy to Hampton, VA. Ginny became involved in her daughters' schools, a couple of garden clubs and St Joseph Catholic Church in Buckroe Beach, VA.  She and her husband loved to travel and they visited many places across the US and Europe. Being a devoted Grandma, her favorite places to visit were where her grandchildren lived.

A recent highlight was a visit from her two granddaughters, a grandson-i- Law and 6 great-grandkids, celebrating the 4 th of July. Ginny had a blast hanging out with the kids.

Special Thank You to Home Helpers in Hampton, VA especially Ginny's primary caregiver, Mary Debellis and Riverside Regional Medical Center Hospice
