Violet Baylor was born in Williamsburg, VA on November 28, 1925, to loving parents Netlean Ashby and Lincoln Orange, Jr. She attended public school in Williamsburg, and also went on to receive an Associate's Degree. She later married James K. Baylor; and together they had four children. Violet worked as a secretary for over 20 years at the School for the Deaf and Blind in Hampton, VA until her retirement.
Violet enjoyed gardening, cooking, watching her favorite shows on TV, and spending time with her family and friends. After making Little Zion Baptist Church her home in 1985, she was active in the church's senior activities. She was preceded in death by her husband (James Baylor), her sons (Jimmy and Brian Baylor), and her parents. Her surviving family include her daughter (Brenda Baylor), her son (Kenneth Baylor), her daughter-in-law (Valerie), and a granddaughter (Lateesha). Violet also left behind many relatives and close friends. Violet was thoughtful and compassionate throughout her life. She will be missed by all who knew her.
