Mrs. Vicki L. Jones (née Sheehan), of Hampton, VA, died surrounded by family on April 28, 2015 after complications from a long battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was 58 years old. Vicki is survived by her children, Jennifer Roper Gulsrud and Lucas Neibaur and step-children, Mary Cornwell, Monica Carneal, and Timothy Jones; step-mother, Ingrid Sheehan; sister, Bobbie Mauch; brother, William Sheehan; and several grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Jones; mother, Betty Sheehan (née Heaton) and father, Richard Sheehan. Vicki was born on July 4, 1956 at Pepperrell Air Force Base in Newfoundland, Canada to Richard Sheehan and Betty Heaton. Much of Vicki's life was ever changing due to many moves with her family while being in the military. This created a gypsy-like mindset for her later in her adulthood. This also helped Vicki to become an incredibly social, charming, and fun loving person. After floating many years from place to place, she finally found joy and comfort in Hampton, VA when she married Harold Jones. Vicki faced all challenges with immense strength and resilience, while remaining a loyal and caring friend to many. She was a wonderful sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter and friend while always maintaining her sense of humor. She was the type of person that would do absolutely anything to help another human being. She also had a love for animals, particularly dogs, which had always been a part of her life growing up until her death. Her dogs, Shadow and Beckley, were like children to her. A memorial service is scheduled for 6:00 PM, Tuesday, May 26, 2015 in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel.
