Travis Glen Crabtree, 32, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 22, 2022. Born in Newport News, Travis spent most of his life in Hampton. He graduated with highest honors from Kecoughtan High School, Class of 2009 and received a full scholarship to VCU; and was most recently residing in Washington, DC, working as a consultant for the performing arts.
Travis was a talented performer and gymnast, winning numerous awards. He loved to sing and dance and enjoyed sharing these talents through teaching children. Travis was the life of the party, and his energy and presence would elevate any situation. He had a gift for making all feel welcome and an infectious laugh that could brighten any room. Travis was a friend to all. He was loved and will be dearly missed. In his honor we ask that you please perform random acts of kindness and expressions of gratitude. Join us in letting his memory live on through love towards others.
Travis was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Alec & Bertha Hamby and paternal grandparents, Glen & Flossie Crabtree. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Jean Lynn Taylor and her husband, James; his father, Lonnie Ray Crabtree; his sister Linsey Dawn Wyne and her husband, Kevin; his two nieces Addy and Ellie Wyne; stepbrother Jules Taylor; Aunts, Julie Craddock, Carolyn Hopkins, Jan Craig, Tracey Ellis, and Debbie Sink; Uncles, Glen Crabtree, Keith Crabtree and Wayne Crabtree; numerous cousins and bonus grandparents, Jimmy & Elaine Taylor.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Trevor Project. https://www.thetrevorproject.org/
