Obituary

Tony Thrash, 67, beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather departed this life on September 17 th after an extended illness.

Tony was born in Bermuda on June 15, 1954, the oldest child of Arnold and Louise Thrash. He moved to Hampton with his family as a child, and eventually became big brother to four siblings. Tony grew up in Hampton, graduating from Kecoughtan High School in 1972. He met the love of his life, Susan Sirota Risley, in 1989 and they married in September 1991. During his career as "the parts guy" he was employed, and highly respected, by most Chevrolet dealerships in the Peninsula/Williamsburg area. He finished his career at Hampton Chevrolet, retiring earlier this year.

Tony loved listening to and making music and was an accomplished guitar player. He enjoyed stamp-collecting and restoring classic automobiles, in particular his 1986 MGB. He was a huge Beatles, Yankees and Redskins fan, loved a cold beer and hanging out with family and friends. He and Sue enjoyed traveling and according to his grandchildren "Poppie" made the best waffles around.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charlie Thrash. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Susan, his stepson Jason (Rose) Risley, and two grandchildren Olivia and Henry. Also surviving are brothers Mark Thrash of Falls Church and Eugene Thrash of Kansas City, and sister Linda (Steven) Thrash Hemler of Culpeper. He is also survived by two nieces and four nephews.
