Thomas Eugene Fowler, Sr., 66, died unexpectedly, Tuesday, January 29, 2019. He was born and raised in Fox Hill and joined the Fox Hill Volunteer Fire Department in July of 1968. Tom retired from NASA as a Wind Tunnel Technician in 2010 after 32 years of service. He loved growing up on a farm and being around farm animals and was well known for raising hogs to provide sausage for the many people in Fox Hill who lined up to receive it. Tom was an avid gardener until he was no longer able to tend his garden but made sure to oversee others to make sure they were doing everything correctly. He loved travelling, especially to Pigeon Forge, loved camping, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry Jernigan and Johnny Fowler; and his hound dog "Radar";  survivors include his wife of 47 years, Marcia McKenney Fowler; his daughter, Mary Fowler Jenkins and husband, Kevin; son, Thomas E. "Gene" Fowler, II and wife, Holly; grandchildren, Gabrielle, Adriana "Annie", Bryce, Breana and Erika; one great-grandchild, Logan "Porkchop"; a sister, Irene Griffin and husband, Ken; two sisters-in-law, Amy Fowler and Gail Jernigan; Brother-in-law Pete McKenney and wife, Pam; and his bloodhound "Bailey"; as well a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 PM Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Fox Hill Central United Methodist Church by Rev. Eric J. Vaudt. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 4-6pm Saturday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
