IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Thomas M
Berry
October 21, 1931 – February 10, 2026
Thomas (Tommy) M. Berry, our beloved father, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Born on October 21, 1931, in Hampton, Tommy was a proud Army veteran and a man who lived a life defined by hard work, creativity, and devotion to family. For more than 65 years, Tommy worked as a sheet metal mechanic with Newsome Air Conditioning. He took great pride in his work and was known for his reliability and skill. Outside of work, he was an avid woodworker and craftsman who found true happiness in building things with his hands—often creating pieces meant to be shared, used, and enjoyed by those he loved.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Robert C. Berry, Sr. (Colgate) and Louise Carpenter Berry; his beloved wife of over 60 years, Dorothy Spires Berry; his cherished daughter, Renae Denise McCormick; and his brothers, Robert C. Berry, Jr. (Hilda) and Joseph E. Berry.
He leaves behind his three sons, Mark T. Berry (Val), Jeffrey S. Berry (Winnie), and John P. Berry, his youngest son, who lovingly and tirelessly cared for him in his final years. He was a proud grandfather to Patrick D. McCormick (Chris), Michelle A. Kunkel (Wes), David A. Berry (Jamie), Adam T. Berry, and Delaney V. Berry, and a cherished great-grandfather to Owen P., Bryce A., Joel T., and Kaylee L.
Tommy will be remembered not for gentle words, but for showing his care through action. He expressed his love by fixing what was broken, building what was needed, and going out of his way to help family and friends. His generosity was quiet but unmistakable, and those who knew him best understood that his way of giving was through doing.
Interment at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. Alzheimer's Foundation of America
