Terrie Lynn Neil, 61, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 30, 2025.  She was born in Hampton to Robert L. and Mary Neil.

Terrie loved being outdoors, camping and enjoyed music, especially old rock and roll. Terrie lived her life centered around love—love for her family, her friends, and the simple joy of being together. Whether it was family gatherings, quiet talks, or big celebrations, she found her greatest happiness in the company of those she held dear. Her warmth, laughter, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew her, and her memory will continue to bring people together, just as she always did.

Preceded in death by her father; and her sister, Dawn Marie Neil; she leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Mary Neil; her soulmate, George Close; daughter Destine Dawn Sonnek (Michael); sons, Robert L. Neil, Chad Morgan Neil; twelve grandchildren; brother, Robert L. Neil, III (Lisa Baskill), stepson, Brandon Close; and one niece.

A funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, November 7, 2025, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Avenue, downtown Hampton with interment at Parklawn Memorial Park.
