Teresa C. Rice, 68, died Thursday, August 7, 2025. Born in Richmond, she had been a Hampton resident since 1987. She enjoyed playing Bingo, both in person and online, was a pool shark, and was an avid reader. Her greatest love was her family, especially the grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elwood W. Rice, and her sister, Katherine Rook. Survivors include her son, James  "Bo" Rice; her daughters, Sandra Schmitt and husband, David and Edith Gray and husband, Daniel; her sister, Charlotte Boone; and ten grandchildren, John W. Davis, III, Cheyenne L. Davis, Abigail F. Hendrix, Wyatt W. Schmitt, Alexander C. Schmitt, Elena O. Gray, Aiden W. Gray, Tyler P. Gray, Alyssa G. Gray, and Joseph D. Gray. She will also be missed by her faithful companion, her dog, Jazmine.

The family will receive friends from 2-3pm, Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 3pm. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
