IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Tammy Annette
Barnes Smith
May 17, 1971 – February 29, 2016
Tammy Annette Barnes Smith (aka TAS) 44, of Hampton VA passed away February 29, 2016 after a long battle against cervical cancer. She stood strong and fought hard every step of the way, never losing hope, supported by her family, extended family and friends. Tammy fell in love with horses from the moment she saw one and could usually be found at Livestock Stables (Charlie's) with her barn buddies who became lifelong friends and extended family. She played pool in the Peninsula APA, playing league pool & tournaments, winning many trophies & awards, and made her way to tournaments in Las Vegas. She bought herself a Harley and began riding with her friends participating in poker runs, benefit runs and just enjoying group rides. In the last few years, Tammy found something that became part of her heart & soul, Hotel Kids. She gave everything she had to give and worked as much as she could for the benefit of the children. It became a part of her life & heart to help the children. She always tried to help someone who needed it as much as she could. Once you were a part of Tammy's life, you always were and you usually became an extended family member to her.
Tammy was born in Newport News, VA May 17, 1971 and lived in Hampton & Gloucester most of her life. She is preceded in death by her parents David Barnes & Judith Logan Barnes. She is survived by her son Andrew Smith of Gloucester, her heart family; Sister & co-parent Sherry Smith, Son Blaine Morgan, daughter Misti Mowry, and grandchildren Brenden, Morgan and Liam of Gloucester, former partner & co-parent Cindy Staton of Hampton. Grandmother Doris Barnes and aunt Dee Zacharias of Hampton, uncle George Barnes of Richmond, brother & sister Steve & Michelle Barnes of Amherst County, sister & brother Paula & David Riley of Staunton, sister Karin Mills of Hampton, nieces Sarah Cook, Jennifer Hunt, Kayla Steelman, Breanna Riley & Sabrena Mills, 6 great nephews & 1 great niece and many cousins. Also by many adopted children, nieces, nephews, brothers & sisters.
Through the good & the bad, there was always love.
