September 23, 1947 – September 24, 2020
Susan Barker Montefusco, 73, died Thursday, September 24, 2020. Born in Waynesboro, VA, she had lived most of her life on the Peninsula. Susan served her country in the US Army before getting married and raising her daughters. She was active in the Peninsula Community Theater and loved frequenting flea markets and auctions looking for treasures to buy and sell. She coached softball for the Mallory Little League for several years. For twenty years. she was a bus driver for Hampton City Schools and went to work for the government with ITT until retiring in the early 1990's.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Ruby Jane Allison Barker and John Henry Barker; her husband, Albert Nelson "Sonny" Dauphinais; and a daughter, Michelle Jo Williams. Survivors include her daughter, Allison Tinker and husband, James; four grandchildren, Jimmy, Susan, Benjamin, and Adam; two great-grandchildren, Jayden and Wynter; two sisters, Helen Baker and Betty Toomey; three nieces, Tammy Meyer, Tina Ashley and husband, Roger, and Tanya Austin and husband, Mike; two nephews, Eddie Barker and wife, Emily and Danny Rice and wife, Lisa; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Hampton Memorial Gardens.
