Newport News, Susan Jernigan left us too soon on August 30, 2016, at the age of 62. Born in Richmond, VA, she graduated from First Colonial High School and then Longwood College where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. She worked many years in Richmond before coming home to Newport News, VA.

Susan loved art and pictures, and always had both displayed in her home. She loved animals, especially horses and cats. She loved playing with her cat Misty. Susan enjoyed making bead jewelry and finding different types of beads to make each piece unique. She also loved listening to her music and watching her favorite TV shows.

Susan was preceded in death by her mother, Jacqueline Downing. She is survived by her father, Howard Jernigan and his wife Domenica; sisters, Lynn Watson and her husband John and Jean Saunders and her husband Tim. She is also survived by several aunts and uncles, which include Caroline Brown of Potomac, MD as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, step sisters and step brothers.

The family will have a private gathering at a future date.
