There is victory in Jesus! Thomas Stewart Belcher crossed the bridge to be with his Lord and Savior on January 12, 2015. He was born to the late William T. (Bill) and Donna Dotson Belcher on December 26, 1950 in Bluefield, West Virginia. He proudly served his Country in the US Army and his community with Hampton Fire and Rescue after 20 years of dedicated service. But more importantly, he served his Lord. He enjoyed sports and was an avid Redskin ad NASCAR fan. As a member of Hampton Holiness Chapel, he served on the Leadership Team and was always a blessing and inspiration to others. Left to celebrate his home going are his best friend and loving wife of 26 years, Debra, loving and dedicated daughter Michelle Garrett and the most wonderful son-in-law Mark. He was the best Poppy and so proud of his wonderful and beautiful granddaughters, Ashley and Kayleigh. In addition, he leaves behind his sister, Brenda Taylor and her husband, Stephen and their children, Matthew and Jessica and a number of other nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his loving and faithful companion, his Bassett Hound, Quincey. He is also survived by this son Chad. The family expresses thanks to special friends and caregivers, John Lawson and Cheri Bever who were always there and Heartland Hospice for their caring prayers. The family will receive friends from 4-6:00 PM Wednesday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in downtown Hampton. A graveside service will be conducted 10:00 am Thursday, at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, with Pastor Gus Diggs officiating and full fire department honors. Later at 2:00 pm Thursday, Thomas' life will be remembered and celebrated at Hampton Holiness Chapel. He fought the good fight and is now walking the streets of gold. Left turn Poppy! Arrangements are by R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave. in Hampton, 757-723-3191
