Obituary

Stephen Howard Culotta, 63, of Hampton, died Friday, October 1, as a result of complications from a stroke.  The son of Paul and Mary Howard Culotta of Hampton, he was a graduate of Hampton High School, class of 1976, as well as a graduate of Thomas Nelson Community College and Christopher Newport College, a member of the Intramural Volleyball Team, and of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity.  He had been employed by Newport News Shipyard, later as a registered representative for First Investors Corporation, and as a substitute teacher for Hampton City Schools.

He is survived by his parents, his sister, Terry C. Ennis (Jim) of Hampton, and brother, Christopher P. Culotta (Patty) of Troy, Virginia, as well as a nephew, Christopher Ennis (Virginia), a step-nephew, Donald Ennis, and many cousins.  Steve was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

The family is grateful for Steve's wonderful neighbors who have been so helpful, and to Jeff Sise, Steve's friend, whose help has been invaluable.

There will be a Celebration of Life at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in Hampton, on Sunday, October 10 at 3 p.m., followed by family visitation.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to diabetes research or a charity of your choice.

In accordance with CDC recommendations, the family asks that masks be worn.
