Obituary

HAMPTON - Stanley Bernard Epstein or "Stan" as his friends called him, of Hampton, Virginia passed away surrounded by his family on March 8, 2016, after a battle with Alzheimer's disease. Stan was born on March 21, 1947 in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late Lankford and Bertha Epstein. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Julieta Hipolito Epstein; his daughter Jennifer Epstein of Atlanta, GA; his son Alan Epstein and daughter-in-law Melanie Epstein and 2 grandchildren, Emily and Ethan also from Hampton; Stan was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served honorably for 26 years. He first enlisted as a military policeman in 1966 and shortly after was stationed at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines; where he fell in love with and married his beautiful wife, Julie. He continued his military career as a medical technician at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio Texas; a missile operations officer at McConnell Air Force Base, in Rose Hill, Kansas; a network systems analyst at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska; and finishing his military service in 1992 as a Captain and computer network engineer with the 1912th Computer Systems Group, at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton, Virginia. Stan would go on to become a senior systems analyst with the U.S. Joint Forces Command in Suffolk, VA where he finished out a life long commitment to his country in 2011. Stan was loved by many and his infectious smile and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all. He cherished his family and friends and will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first. He was also passionate about supporting the Filipino community and its culture; and served alongside his wife Julie as an officer and member, of the Philippine - American Community of the Peninsula for over 20 years. Stan's life will be celebrated on Monday, March 14, 2016, from 3-5 pm at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Community, Bethel Manor Chapel, 1793 First St. Hampton, Va.
