Shirley White Whittington, 65, died Monday, September 12, 2016. A longtime Hampton resident, she owned Hampton Roads Batteries with her husband, Joseph M. Whittington who preceded her in death. She loved watching TruTV, enjoying the many crime stories and forensic shows, was a cat lover, and loved the color purple. She had friends all over the world that will miss her greatly.

Survivors include her sons, Mark C. Whittington and his wife, Brandy of Herndon, VA, Michael J. Whittington of Hampton, and Mathew S. Whittington and his wife, Margaret of Hampton; and three grandchildren, Joseph, Zoey and Charlotte Whittington.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 17, 2016 in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm, Friday at the funeral home.
