Shirley Simpson Rodriguez, 88, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2024, at her cottage home in Poquoson. She was born in 1935 and was a resident of Hampton for 45 years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Antonio B. Rodriguez, her son Christopher Rodriguez, her parents James and Gladys Simpson, four sisters and one brother. She is survived by her daughters, Antoinette Barry (Bob), Rachel Morris (Ron) and Malina Rodriguez and her sister in law, Tina (Brian) Campbell. She is also survived by her grandsons, Cody Barry (Ashley) and Blake Morris, great granddaughter Adelyn Barry as well as many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hampton as well as the Knights Cappers 511 and a volunteer with the Funeral Committee. Although unable to attend these past couple of years she continued her connection with the St. Joseph "family" remotely and with the many selfless Sunday communion visits from Mike Foley. We are forever grateful for this support in her final time with us.

Shirley loved her family and loved the simple things in life. She had a kind heart and was always willing to lend a listening ear to those who needed it. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 5-6PM. A Rosary Service will begin at 6PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 11AM. The family will gather in Cordier Hall after mass to greet friends. Interment in Hampton Memorial Gardens with military honors will follow at 3PM.
