Shirley Burch Kyle Conway, 79, died Nov. 15, 2015 after a 17 year courageous battle with cancer. Through her life she showed her family and friends that "To love and be loved is the greatest joy on earth". Shirley is survived by her husband of 44 years, Edward Henry Conway; sister, Ella Kyle Wimer, of Suffolk; sister-in-law, Shirley Ann Kyle of Williamsburg; nephews, William Reid Kyle, III of Williamsburg, Christopher S. Kyle ( Mari) of Harrisonburg, and William Nevin Wimer of Suffolk and niece, Rebecca Wimer Carlson ( Cliff) of Chesapeake. Also, her great nephews and nieces, Kyle, Makayla, William, Abigail, Jonathan, and Olivia. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Reid Kyle, Sr. and Lula Blick Kyle, brother, William Reid Kyle, Jr. and great-niece, Elizabeth Kyle. Born in Phoebus, Shirley was a lifelong Hamptonian. She graduated from Hampton High School in 1953 and attended Virginia Intermont College. After 41 years of service, she retired from the Old Point National Bank. Shirley was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hampton. The family will receive friends from 10:00 -11:00 AM Saturday, November 21, 2015 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home followed by a service beginning at 11:00 in the funeral home chapel by Rev. Candace Martin. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to any foodbank of your choice or any organization helping the homeless.
