Obituary
Shirley Johnson Cardwell, 86, widow of Arthur B. Cardwell, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2014. A lifelong resident of Fox Hill, she retired from the Hampton Public School system, where she was a cafeteria worker. She was a member of Wallace memorial United Methodist Church, Ladies Auxiliary of the Fox Hill Volunteer Fire Department, honorary member of the State Ladies Auxiliary and she loved to play Bingo.
Surviving are her sisters, Margaret Powell and JoAnn Johnson; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 PM Saturday at Wallace Memorial United Methodist Church. Immediately following at 3:00 PM, a funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Kevin Stefano. Interment will follow in Clark Cemetery.
The family wishes in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Wallace Memorial United Methodist Church, 6 Johnson Rd., Hampton, VA 23664.
