IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharon Denise
Mills
November 11, 1956 – July 4, 2025
Sharon Denise Mills, 68, a long-time resident of Hampton, VA, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025, after a long struggle with Parkinson's Disease. She was born on November 11, 1956, in Denver, CO to the late Maj (ret) Harold L. Mills and the late Lorraine E. Mills (nee Dyson). During her career she held a number of positions, serving as an Assistant Park Ranger, a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and a Teacher's Aide.
She is survived by three sisters, Deborah Julian and husband Charles, Cynthia Heier and husband Chris, Brenda Bell and husband Webb, nephew Christian Bell and wife Stephanie, and great niece and nephew, Abigail and Mason.
As a daughter of military parents, Sharon moved frequently as a young girl and lived in overseas duty stations in Spain and Taiwan, finally settling in Hampton. As a young adult she was scuba certified and loved nothing more than swimming with her aquatic friends. Dolphins were her spirit animals, and she surrounded herself with dolphin images. She was very patriotic and loved decorating for Independence Day and attending July 4th celebrations at Yorktown. She was also very artistic and creative, enjoying crafts, needlepoint, crochet, and painting. For many years she was an active member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Hampton, where she served as a deacon and a nursery attendant. She joyfully participated in church activities and always comforted church members when they experienced difficulties. She was a devoted daughter, a loving sister, a friend to many, and a truly unselfish and caring person.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Hampton. Burial will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News. The family will receive friends at the church at 12:30 PM prior to the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 1458 Todds Lane, Hampton, VA 23666 or to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research by clicking HERE .
