Obituary

"True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she knows". Sharon O'Rourke Linkous 71 passed away peacefully at her home in Hampton VA. Born April 5 th 1942 in Oakland, CA, she lived in the Hampton Roads area for over 70 years. Her iconic soul was the truest form of beauty, for she showered her family and friends with love and passion in the selfless kind of ways that inspired people to follow her lead. Not only did she offer unwavering devotion to her family, but also worked diligently as a machinist for 28 years, before retiring from Bendix/Siemens/Continental.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Charles Stewart Parnell O'Rourke Jr. and Francis Sheppard Deane; her sister Diane O'Rourke Mitchell; her brother Charles Stewart Parnell O'Rourke III; and special aunt Bicaba. She leaves her legacy to her five sons, her most prized possessions, Robert Barbery (June), Anthony (Fay) Linkous, Johnny (Deb) Linkous, Keith Linkous, and Kevin (Christine) Linkous; grandchildren, Anthony Foxworth, Tony Linkous, Amber Linkous, Kara Turk, Amber Boyce, Kayla Boyce, Heather Linkous, Megan Linkous, Liz Barbery, Robbie Robinson, and Crystal Deal; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Kallie, Destinee, Jaelynn, Mariah, Jenna, Ivy, Kasey, Emma, Madelynn, Devin, and Benjamin; her special Aunt Delores Bryant and family; her sister-in-law, Carol O'Rourke; and nephews, Chris Mitchell, Chuck and Ryan O'Rourke, and family, as well as the Stafford Family.

Sharon will look down on those she touched with a beautiful smile while playing her favorite game of cards and winning games of bingo. She instilled the true meaning of "family" in us all. Her beautiful soul is without a doubt a legacy that will live on forever. "For when the cold winds blow, I will close my eyes calmly, knowing I am anchored to you. "

Her celebration of life will be held on March 22, 2014 at 10am, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S Armistead Ave. Hampton VA, 23669. Family and friends are invited after the service, to Olde Towne Tavern 31 E Mellen St, Hampton, VA, 23663.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home to help pay funeral expenses.
