Sharon Marie Gill, 64, died unexpectedly of a massive stroke on Monday, December 1, 2014. A native of Green Bay, WI, she had been a Newport News resident for the last 2 years. She served in the US Army during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Having been baptized in 2008, she was looking forward to going home. Preceded in death by her parents, Verona and John McNamara and one sister, survivors include her daughter, Dawn Marie Thomassen and her husband, Doug; her pride and joy, her grandson, Benjamin Burge; and eight siblings whom she loved very much. Since she was an animal lover, the family asks that memorials be made to the Isle of Wight Humane Society, 16672 Longview Dr., Smithfield, VA 23430.
