Rheuark
October 15, 1930 – January 15, 2017
Sarah Jane Rheuark, 86, passed away January 15, 2017. A lifelong resident of the Peninsula she was a 1947 graduate of Hampton High School. Sarah went on to work for over 25 years in the Civil Service at both Langley Air Force Base and Fort Monroe. Following her retirement she was a devoted volunteer at Sentara Careplex Hospital. In her spare time she loved to work jigsaw and crossword puzzles. More than anything she always enjoyed a good card game with her family.
Sarah was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Howard Rheuark Sr., mother, Lacy Becker, and brother Sidney Moore. Survivors include her children; Sylvia King (Jim), Nancy Matt (Craig), Howard Rheuark Jr. (Sharon), and Susan Waters (George); grandchildren, Barbara Black (Ricky), Steven Waters (Jenny), Philip Matt, and Wesley Waters (Ellen); great-grandchildren, Tristan Black, Emma Waters, and William Waters.
The family will receive friends at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 4-6PM. A private graveside service will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made to the Wounded Warrior Project https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/ or a charity of your choice.
