Sandra Faye
(Bellich) Bridegam
October 27, 1945 – July 1, 2018
Sandra 'Sandy' Bridegam passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, July 1st, 2018. She was born on October 27th, 1945 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Fred and Norma Bellich and lived in the community of Huskerville. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sister Sharon (Bellich) Robinson; in laws Henry and Hilda Bridegam Jr; brothers-in-law: Gary Broman, Richard Schenaman, Leroy Hergenrader, and Tom Day. She leaves to cherish her memory, loving husband, Ronald 'Ron' Bridegam; son Scott Bridegam and wife, Cristen; daughter Shannon Fennell and husband, Tommy; brother Steve Bellich and wife, Suzanne; sisters-in-law: Donna Day, Becky Schenaman, and Sandy Broman; brothers-in-law: Dallas Bridegam and Mike Robinson; granddaughters: Caitlin Bridegam, Kori Bridegam, and Kenzie Fennell; grandson Zach Fennell; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Sandy and Ron met in Junior High School in Lincoln, Nebraska and their love for each other lasted forever. They were married October 27th, 1962. Shortly after, Ron joined the U.S. Air Force and they, along with their two children, enjoyed a nearly 24-year career living in Florida, Mississippi, Washington, Oklahoma, and Virginia. After retiring from the Air Force, they settled in Hampton, Virginia. Sandy wanted the best for their children and spent countless hours teaching, coaching, and raising them. She always ensured they got the most of their education, was very active in the PTA and school activities, and coached them in youth sports. Because of her untiring efforts both excelled academically as honor students, athletically, and in the arts becoming the first in their family to graduate from college and going on to obtain graduate degrees. Her son became an aviation officer in the U.S. Army and her daughter became a math teacher that uses her as an example in her classroom often. After both children married, Sandy enjoyed being a Grandma to her grandchildren who have all went on to attend college with her three granddaughters obtaining degrees and her grandson entering his junior year on an Army ROTC Scholarship. Sandy also cared deeply about animals raising dogs, cats, fish, ducks, parakeets, and hamsters in her home over the years but loved most to spoil her two dogs Peanut and Rocky. Sandy's favorite pastimes were bowling; shopping; fishing; and going to garage sales, a hobby she started with her best friend Darlene Webster in Oklahoma and continued to her last days with her husband Ron.
The family will hold a graveside service at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date to be determined. If you'd like to share memories or comments about Sandy please send them to her home for inclusion at her service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial donations be made in her name to your local no-kill animal shelter or foodbank.
