Sandra Freda Ann Beimler Paton, 77, peacefully passed away to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 10, 2014. Born on October 5, 1937, she was a native of Hampton, and lived in Newport News, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucile M. Beimler and Milton E. Beimler; her step-parents, Mildred Beimler and William Cartwright; and her half-brother, Harley Beimler. She is survived by her children, Scott Paton, Heather Paton, George Paton, Bruce Paton and wife, Melissa Paton, and Robert Paton and wife, Nora Varga; her grandchildren, Alexander Paton and Amelia Paton; as well as her half-brothers, Milton Beimler and Harold Beimler; step-sisters, Lynn McClain, JoAnn DeBolt, and Sherry Stepp; and her step-brother, Billy Cartwright. She is also survived by her ex-husband and friend, George Alistair Paton. Sandra led a compassionate life as a Registered Nurse in the Hampton Roads area, specializing in gerontology and skilled care. She was an active member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Newport News both as an elder and in the chorus. Her fondest moments in life were with family, working in her garden, and playing cards with dear friends. With great pride and affection she was the secret "Tree Lady" who commemorated events and holidays by decorating a Hampton tree on Interstate 64 which brought joy to all who traveled through the area. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 15, 2014 in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel by Dr. Michael T. Condrey. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
