Sam T. Simkins, 85, went to be with his Lord and savior on April 5, 2018. Born June 27, 1932 he was the son of the late William and Nettie Simkins. Following school, he served four years in the United States Coast Guard. He worked for 25 years as a car salesman at Bowditch Ford. Sam was an active member of Fox Hill Road Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and usher. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and never met a stranger.

Sam was preceded in death by his daughter Jacqueline Simkins. Survivors include his loving wife of 42 years, Ruth C. Simkins; son, Charles E. Simkins; stepsons, Robert E. Burns Jr. and Henry N. Burns; stepdaughter, Tammy Lynn Davis; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 12-1PM with a funeral service following at 1PM. Interment in Parklawn Memorial Park will follow afterwards.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Fox Hill Road Baptist Church in Sam's memory.
