Sadie Jackson Phillips, 90, died Sunday, February 7, 2016. A native of Lumberton, NC, she had been a Hampton resident for more than 50 years where she was a devoted member of Fordham Baptist Church, had served as Sunday school secretary, and played the piano. She loved taking care of children and being a grandmother.
Preceded in death by her parents, Hampton and Carrie Jackson, her husband, George M. Phillips and her daughter, Phyllis Kay Childress; survivors include her children, Douglas Phillips and his wife, Faye of Lumberton, NC, Sandra Pruitt of Williamsburg, Bobbie Pate and her husband, Robert of Louisa, Leslie Phillips and his wife, Donna of Haines City, FL, Robert Phillips of Hampton, Pamela Koch of Yorktown, Andy Phillips and his wife, Victoria of Hampton, and Thomas Phillips of Hampton; sixteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, February 12, 2016 in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Thursday at the funeral home.
