Ryland Atkins Jones, 62, died Saturday, December 3, 2016. Born in Newport News, he spent most of his life on the Peninsula and was a graduate of Warwick High School. Ryland served in the Army and worked as a cook at Sentara Careplex for the past nine years.

Ryland is survived by his daughter, Melissa Jones and grandson, Caymen Jenkins; extended family, Shannon Higgins and husband Carl; and girlfriend Carolyn; one brother and one sister; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday from 6-8 PM at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton.
