Ruth "Esther" VanBuskirk, peacefully passed away on October 26th, 2017 in Hampton, VA.

Born December 9, 1922, in Whitehall, N.Y. She was the daughter of Jerome and Alice Campbell.

Mrs. VanBuskirk was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Kenneth VanBuskirk, three brothers Earl, Walter, and Robert Campbell, and on sister, Alice Chaphe.

Mrs. VanBuskirk was a graduate of Albany Business College and was employed by the Troy Savings Bank for 17 years. She was a charter member of the Whitehall chapter of the Glenn Falls Hospital Guild, a member of Eastern Star, a trustee for the Isaac C. Griswold Library, and served in several capacities in the Whitehall United Methodist Church.

Her life was lovingly enriched by her three children, Fred VanBuskirk (Mary Ann), Jeanna Cunningham (Rick), and Barbara Joyce (Frank). She also leaves behind two grandchildren, Lt. Cmdr. James Cunningham (Allison), and Kathryn Cunningham (Dan), and five great-grandchildren, Nora, Lucas and William Cunningham, and Claire and Paul Varano, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 2:30-4:30PM. A funeral and burial will follow in Whitehall, NY.
