Obituary

Lieutenant Colonel Ronald David Youngclaus passed away peacefully the morning of August 7th. He was surrounded by his family. Ron grew up in Weymouth MA and was a 1961 graduate of Archbishop Williams High School. In high school he loved playing hockey and was elected Captain of the team his senior year. He earned his bachelor's degree at Columbus University and earned 3 master's degrees later in life from Webster University and Old Dominion University. In 1966 Ron enlisted in the Army and went on to go to Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. Ron went on to become a Special Forces Officer and was a Vietnam War veteran. He earned the Bonze Star with Oak Leaf clusters and the Combat Infantryman's Badge among several other military awards. He was a qualified Jump Master. Ron retired from the Army as a Lieutenant Colonel after 22 years of service. He was extremely patriotic and proud of his service to his country. Ron retired in Yorktown VA and was an avid golfer. Golf was his church. He was an active member at the Kiln Creek Golf Club. He loved sports and coached hockey, baseball and golf throughout his life. He was a loyal Boston Red Sox and Washington Redskins and Washington Capitals fan.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, William Charles Sr. and Priscilla Youngclaus of Weymouth MA; brother, William Charles Youngclaus Jr of Exeter NH and brother, Phillip Hayward Youngclaus of Methuen MA and sister, Carolyn Sullivan of Punta Gorda FL.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Diana (Stranley) Youngclaus; his son, David Youngclaus (Wendy) of Middleboro MA and their children Gavin, Adeline, Broden, Carter and Duncan Youngclaus; his daughter, Claire Youngclaus McCallum (Scott) of Carrolton VA and their children Mason McCallum, Elise Jernigan and Ava Jernigan; sister-in-law, May Youngclaus of Exeter NH; sister-in-law, Regina Youngclaus of Methuen MA; nieces and nephews, Stephanie Bartlett her partner David Scala of Rye NH, Dawna Harding (Steve) of Charleston SC, Geoff Youngclaus (Judi) of Kingston NH, Jennifer O'Doherty (Ronan) of Dover NH, Sarah Smith (Jeff) of Kingston NH, Deirdre Emerson her partner Jeff Arsenault of North Hampton NH, Phillip Youngclaus (Leslie) of Marietta GA, Shayne Youngclaus (Victoria) of Nashua NH; and several other great nieces and nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life service will be scheduled at a later date and inurnment services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers friends are asked to make donation in his honor to the American Heart Association or the Disabled American Veterans.
