Ronald S. Green was called home to be with our Lord on Thursday, July 23, 2026, with his family at his side. He was born April 28, 1940, in Chase City, Virginia to the late Ollie H. Green and Elizabeth F. Green (Sydner). Ronald graduated from Hampton High School in 1958. During his high school years he played his favorite sport, baseball. After high school, he honorably supported his county as a member of the National Guard. He went to work at Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, ultimately becoming their benefits administrator. Upon leaving NNSB he became an independent Snap-On Tool Dealer for 5 years. His last employment was with Eggleston Smith as an office manager.

In addition to playing and coaching baseball, Ronald enjoyed sailing, dancing, and playing racquetball. He took great joy in volunteering in his community with Bay Days and the Hampton Cup Regatta. He was an active member and deacon of his church. He was well known and liked by all who knew him.

Ronald was a devoted father to Kelly Bockwoldt (Todd) and Tim Green (Cindy). When he married Sandra in 1994, his family grew to include Kevin and Thomas Hodge Jr. He was a proud grandfather to Courtney and Benjamin Ray (Dani), Thomas Hodge III, Emily Stein (Judah) and Alicia Hodge and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 4th at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. A graveside service will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
