Roger Dale Bjerke, age 72, passed away Tuesday May 24, 2016. Born in Minot, North Dakota to Harold and Erma Bjerke, Roger was a resident of Hampton since 1967. During the Vietnam War, Roger served in the Navy; he then went on to work as a Nuclear Engineer for the Newport News Shipbuilding for 30 years. He was a member of the American Legion post #25 and VFW Phoebus as well as the Hampton Elks Club #366 and Hampton Moose Lodge.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Roger was preceded in death by his son, Richard Harold Bjerke.  He is survived by his wife, Benita Bjerke; step daughter, Deb Toso (Lynn); step sons, John Bachmeier (Ang), and Mike Bachmeier (Bev); sister, Diane Johnson; nieces, Lynette Smaage and husband, Steve, and Lori Bazal; four step grandchildren; and many great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
