Obituary

Rodney A. Seymour, 71, died peacefully Saturday, May 18,2024. Born in Tucson, AZ but grew up in La Puente, CA, he served in the US Navy for 20 years, retiring in 1995 then went to work for the civil service at the Department of the Navy retired as a military pay auditor until his diagnosis in November 2022. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, sang in the church choir, and was a 4th degree Knight of Columbus. He enjoyed crabbing with his family and friends, going out to eat, baking his famous cookies for all to enjoy, traveling, and quality time with friends. He also had a great love for music, and always enjoyed bringing joy to all as Santa Claus within the Philippine American Community of the Peninsula.

Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Seymour and Evaline Spragg and a brother, Patrick Seymour; survivors include his wife, Dulce B. Seymour; two children, Christopher Seymour and Marie Seymour; three grandchildren, Camden, Kiley, and Christopher, Jr.; two sisters, Gloria Sexton and Stacey Long both of California; and his large extended family especially his niece, Josephine Borromeo Cruz of California; niece, Levys Borromeo Gutierrez of Canada; nephew, Joam Borromeo of Canada; nephew Glyn Mamagat of the Philippines; nephew, Arthur Bilaos of New Jersey; nieces, Mercy Bilaos and Jacqueline Bilaos of the Philippines; nieces and nephew, Catherine Borromeo, Allison Borromeo, and Darryl Borromeo of California; niece, Sherlyn Mamagat of Virginia; nieces Astie, Rachel and Lanie Borromeo of the Philippines; nephew and niece, Ludwig Borromeo and Faith Borromeo of the Philippines; nephew and niece, Danny and Autumn Long of California; and especially his grandnephews Gardy Borromeo, Lark Borromeo, and Kevin Borromeo of California; and also great great apos sa tuhod from all his nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 pm on Monday, June 3, 2024 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 4 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment with full Navy honors will be at 2pm in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 512 Buckroe Avenue, Hampton, VA 23664.
