Robert Ronald "Bobby" Mayhew, age 77, went home to be the Lord on Monday, March 11, 2024, after a long illness. He was born and raised in Hampton and was a life-long resident of Hampton Roads.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Clarence Mayhew and his brother, Stan Mayhew (Glenda). He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Stephanie A. Mayhew; sisters, Jean Benton and Patsy Slye; brothers, Phil Mayhew (Margie), and Jimmy Mayhew (Nancy).  He had numerous nieces and nephews. He maintained contact with longtime friends Harry Veneris and David Webster.

He graduated in 1966 from Hampton High School and from Radford University with a BS degree in 1982.  He served in the US Army and the Virginia National Guard. He worked many jobs including Newport News Fire Department, US Postal Service, and Virginia Power.

He grew up playing various sports and remained an avid sports fan and pool player. He was raised in Hampton Roads Baptist Church and was a current member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was a member of the Moose and Elks lodges.

The family would like to thank the Veterans Affairs Hospital and Hospice Care staff who provided excellent medical care and much appreciated TLC.
