Robert Lyn Newkirk, 60, of Hampton went home to be with his Lord on January 30, 2016 with his fiancée Terry by his side. Born October 3, 1955, he attended Kecoughtan High School and was a proud veteran of the US Air Force.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Nellie Newkirk. He is survived by fiancée of 12 years Terry. They were to be married on January 27. Also survived by two sons, Daniel Newkirk, and Matthew Newkirk and wife Makara; grandchildren, Leah, Emma "Bruiser", and Logan; sister, Nelda (Tom) Archer; and niece Serena; extended family, Kim (Mike) Folker, and Scott (Leann) Sorrell, and their children, Kaleb, Makenzy "Bean", David, Jon, Matthew.

A memorial service will be conducted at 3 PM on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home 245 S. Armistead Ave, Hampton.
