Robert E. Hodges, 55, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Born in Hampton and a lifelong Peninsula resident Robert was a 1977 graduate of Phoebus High School and had worked as a commercial fisherman. Robert was a lifelong member of Youth Challenge/Teen Challenge Ministries. He was a man who enjoyed life on a daily basis and helped young men and women fight the addiction of drugs in Hampton Roads. A living testimony to what the Lord can do if you just believe. Robert was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Vera Hodges; and his brother, Raymond "Boogie" Hodges. He is survived by his sister, Susie Cooper; his brothers, Johnny Hodges and wife Rose, and Jimmy Hodges; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 5, 2014 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home with interment to follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5-6:30 PM.
