Robert Bruce Hayden (Bob), 83, a native of Winthrop, Ma & resident of Hampton, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 31st, 2017 at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked at Clayholt at NASA, and several grocery stores, but he was most passionate about winning skill games at Bush Gardens such as ski-ball, ring toss, hoop toss, bean bag toss and coin toss and reselling the stuffed animals, with his father-in-law, William H. Weber Jr.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Hayden and Winifred Floyd Hayden. He is survived by his wife of 37 years Patricia Ann (Trisha) Hayden. He is also survived by four sons; Mark S. Hayden, William R. Weber, Staff Sergeant Ricky Hayden & wife Allyssa, Daniel Hayden & wife Chaneice and a daughter Elizabeth (Lizy) Hayden; sisters Carol Hayden and husband Richard Hall, and brothers Donald Hayden and David Hayden and wife Martha: and six grandchildren Ben, Caitlynn and Matthew Hayden, Alexander Hayden, and Liam and Lily Hayden.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 8th, 6:00-7:00 PM, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. A service celebrating Bob's life will be held on Thursday, November 9th, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home by Pastor Tommy Markham. Interment will be at 1:00 PM at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery (5310 Milners Rd) in Suffolk, Virginia. A reception for family and friends will be held at the home of Natalie and Bill Weber, 60 Hampton Roads Avenue, in Hampton at 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please contribute in Bob's name to R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home (757-723-3191) to help offset the funeral expenses as there was no life insurance.
