Robert "Bob"
Harold Little, Sr.
May 25, 1935 – January 13, 2021
US Army Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Robert (Bob) Harold Little Sr. age 85, answered God's call January 13 th , 2021. He was the 1 st born child of the late Robert P. & Ruth S. Little of Clinton, SC. Robert and his 2 sisters were raised in a Christian home and actively participated at Friendship AME Church in Clinton where he accepted Christ as his Savior. He often reflected of his experiences delivering the Clinton morning paper (5am) and returning home preparing for school.
Upon graduation from Bell Street High School (1952), he began classes at South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, SC. Completing their ROTC program, he graduated an Officer (1956/BS) and began his military career. A recipient of numerous medals for bravery, his gallant military career carried him to duty stations the world over, including 2 tours in the Vietnam War.
While stationed at Fort Monroe, he earned his MS from Hampton University (1973). Once retired from military, he served as Director of Veteran's Affairs @ Thomas Nelson Community College (1973-1981) and retired as Training Program Manager for the US Government at Fort Eustis. A faithful father and community neighbor, Bob so enjoyed his brotherhood with Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity – Delta Beta Lambda Chapter, his South Carolina State Alumni friends, his tennis and bowling leagues buddies and rosarian activities with the Virginia Peninsula Rose Society.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived and will be missed by his wife, Alice; children: Elizabeth (Lamon Cherry) and Robert II (Marlene), granddaughters: Kamila & Milania; sisters: Ann L. Wilson (MD), & Carrie L. Clardy (SC); nephews: Jesse Wilson and Jeffery Wilson (Tynika); nieces: Janet Morris, Alfreda James(Willie) and Roslyn Clardy; great nieces Camille Wilson, Simone Wilson, Natalie Wilson; great nephews: Shaquille Cook, Dontavius Daniels; loving relatives, Alphonso Wilson and Sally Wilson and a host of dear cousins and friends.
The family is forever grateful for the faithful care of Bob rendered by the CLC STAFF (Hampton VA Medical Center) we'll miss ALL of you.
