Robert Joseph Farrell, 77, died Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Born in Stone Staffordshire, England to Robert Charles Farrell and Doreen Mary Dabbs Farrell, he was a longtime Hampton resident. Robert served 21 years in the US Air Force, then went to work for an additional 22 years for Dominion Virginia Power at the Surry Nuclear Power Plant. He kept busy after retirement by serving in logistics for the Hampton Fire Department delivering mail to the fire stations. He was a longtime volunteer with the Northampton Volunteer Fire Department where he served as treasurer.

In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Michael Farrell. Survivors include his wife, Fiona Farrell; his son, Robert Farrell and wife, Lisa; his daughter, Victoria Ellis and husband, Jonathan; his brother, James W. Farrell and wife, Donna and their daughter, Jamie Farrell; and he was the best Poppy in the world to grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Ellis and Emily Kathleen, Ryan Joseph, and Kinley Grace Farrell and bonus grandchildren, Jacob, Ava, and Sawyer Daniels.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 12, 2022 in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel. The family will receive friends from 10-11 prior to the service. Inurnment with Air Force honors will take place at a later date in the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery.
