Robert Lewis Aman, Sr., 88, passed away on October 13, 2018 at Mary Immaculate Hospital. Born in Roanoke Rapids, Halifax Co., NC he was a Peninsula resident for over 50 years. Robert retired from the US Army and then Army Reserves as a Master Sargent after 34 years of service including a tour in the Korean War. He also worked for the US Postal Service retiring in January 1988.

Robert is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Sheila J. Aman; daughters, Nora Aman, Linda Hicks, Brenda White and Debra Carter; son Robert Aman Jr.; and four stepchildren, Scott Garnett, Wade Garnett and wife Robbie, Kent Garnett and Leslie Garnett; two grandchildren, Lindsey Tibbit and Haylie Garnett.

He was a great fan of NASCAR and golf, and toured the US with Sheila in their R.V.

A Memorial Service with military honors will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 25, 2018 at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, Hampton, Virginia.
